these didnt make it as collaterals during my first exhibit called "The Extraordinary Exhibit" held at Ayala Center Cebu. I think the shirts are still available there.

Anyhoo, these were fun to do.

Their names are Gertrude for the dudette and Gunther for the odd bisexual, gay dude.

This was my entry for Paoks Pattern Contest.

It failed.:P

"THE GOLDEN RATIO"

The Golden Ratio is what we call an

irrational number: it has an infinite

number of decimal places and it never

repeats itself. Generally, we round the

Golden Ratio to 1.618.

It has also been used aesthetically as a unit

of measurement in greek architecture and

perceived as a proportion which exemplifies

beauty, perfection, and balance through

symmetry.

Patterns or tilings reflect the basic

mathemathical properties of the golden

ratio as tesselations ( irregular shapes or

combinations of shapes that interlock

completely to cover a surface or plane.)

This design comes from this principle

and that the idea that mathemathics and

art both converge in a manner that is

naturally pleasing, based on a natural order

or law as described by the golden ratio.

this certain balance also reflects the belief

of yin and yang, or the idea of equity/balance

of things, both dark (as the grey areas) and

light elements (as the gold/orange areas); of

which the most basic notions are the ff.:

-good and evil

-life and death

-love and war

these topics are identified as contrasts.

these contrasts are emphasized through the

use of different colors and elements which

all come together in such harmony to

achieve perfect balance, both as an aesthetic

and as an ideological IDEA.

They approached me to do their staff uniform and the brief was simple.

1. Simple and Clean.

2. Something they can wear outside the store.

3. Street and contemporary.

4. Good sense of branding.

The type tee solution was a hit.

CHAD MANZO x FRANCIS KONG

Francis Kong is a popular inspirational/motivational writer and speaker in the Philippines.

Francis has a regular column on the Philippine Star and has a ton of books to back up his street cred. Francis also has a slew of seminars and motivational talks under his belt; now he has asked me to do, not one, but two book covers for his upcoming titles.

One for a tablebook/booklet of sorts, and the other one a collection of small motivational stories.

These are in print right now and is available through national bookstore (? not so sure) nationwide.

will update as soon as I know where these are stands.:)

SNEAKERHEAD literally

this was submitted to the karmaloop "designing on the sneaktip" contest.

they said to announce the winners on nov.30, and its way past that date.

the design is about what i think is the dopest kicks ever made...answer? Jordan 5s...with the grape colorway, the green bean, and the infrareds, it was a no-brainer. Yey for J5s!!!

was quitely hoping for a chad manzo x sneaktip shirt release, but no word yet....keep on dreaming yeller booi!

Simone Legno a.k.a. TOKIDOKI is a great illustrator, character designer and businessman.

His rise to prominence was due to his collaboration with "LE SPORTSAC", a brand which focuses on messenger bag products and pouches.

the bags were so hot, the black market found numerous ways of producing knock-offs and sold them at extremely low low looooowww prices.

Mr. Legno and his characters are now one of the biggest names in the streetwear/fashion industry wherein his street cred has found its way to bigger collaborations like NEW ERA, ONITSUKA TIGER (asics family tree), and most recently, SKULLCANDY.

the dude was decked out with all his products from his fitted to his damn socks, jewelry, even his headphones.

on top of all that success, he was down enough for a nobody like me to come up to his face and say "Yo, you's a genius, can we take a quick pic?"

hesitantly, he gave me a nod.

after that, the swarm of fanboys and fangirls alike smelled blood and went for the kill.

VISUAL DESIGN CONFERENCE

The south is getting excited to be part of the phenomenon called "VISUAL", a design conference targeted towards the lower half of the country.

With speakers that specialize from web to contemporary apparel design, who wouldn't want to be a part of it?

answer? petty USC-TC fine arts noobs who think they know shit. hypocrites i tell you, hypocrites.

they say the tix are too expensive when they own a mac, any ipod model, cars, and DSLR necklaces. yep, real DSLRs used as necklaces just so they can be baptized as "artists".

anyway, the design conference happens on Nov. 28, 2009 @ SM cinema 1.

To those who dont know, and to those who dont give a damn, im a big sneakerhead.

BIG sneakerhead.

the new jordan spizike colorway is a perfect match for winter-mode gear, with its greys mostly of suede material, are paired with a nice cherry hue. not to mention the tube laces that fit in well with the recent trekking/mountaineering/hiking trend that's actually a big hit in japan.
